OCTA WONDERPUS

****KUDOS PAULO****

PAUL - Psychic - WONDERPUS aren't all these names familiar to the SOCCER FANS - FIFA World cup 2010.

An OCTOPUS - 2 eyes, 4 paris of arms but highly INTELLIGENT INVERTEBRATES. How many of us really like these creatures?? Not many right... We find them so ugly and gross. Probably the very sight of them is so repulsive that it makes one feel nauseated.

Times changes, likes and dislikes changes too. Doesn't it??? I guess the FIFA World Cup 2010 changed it all for OCTOPUS. Isn't it something so wonderful about this particular Invertebrate - PAUL?? I wonder how he does it so brilliantly and almost accurately. He sits so innocently in between the 2 tables which are covered with the particular countries flags and strategically shows his final verdict. Food placed on both tables and he rightly chooses which food to pick to make the country hungry to want more (Winning is an unquenchable hunger!!!).

He almost manages to be correct 9 out of 10 times. How does he really manage that?? A thought to ponder over actually. Whatever he does, HATS OFF to this little , young creature perched on the table top and giving his final verdict.

ARE WE ALIVE

Are We alive? - I was chatting with one of my Engineering friends sometime back and he suggested this title. So here I am honouring his words and posting a blog on the suggested title.(Delphi Dude this one is your take.)

Mechanical, Robotic, Stagnant, Boring Life - Aren't these the familiar words we hear these days from most of us. Life is so boring. It is just not happening. I am so bored. Blah , blah blah.....

It is so typical of us to go on cribbing about our not so happening life. Each day, we do it without getting bored to crib. Monotony seems to set in firmly, a firm footing in one's life with no looking back. College days were so good. Only money at times used to be a scarce resource , but we had everything else to lean back on. Look at the scenario now. We earn well today, have money, but NO TIME. True ain't it? We longing and fondly look back at our good old times and I guess we skip a beat truly.

We all come to work, five days a week, work mechanically (Excluding the Blessed Artists and the ones who do not have a desk job) and get back again. Is this what we all really want to do?? Is this how it is going to be in future too??

We have actually stopped living. We are mechanical maniacs now and with advanced technology we are breathing and living. But are we actually ALIVE??

Where are the times when we actually sit down, mind you PEACEFULLY with our family & friends and laugh our heart out. Or may be sit down and do something that we are all wanting to from ages. Or may be learn something new that we have always set our eyes on.

But, No, we do not really do anything of that sort. We are all so charged up in this human race to jump along that we have stopped living. Have we ever given a thought on our ART OF LIVING!!

The way we lead or lifes and the way we want to lead are two different things, the sooner one comprehends, the faster the move becomes.

A life with money and nothing else is as good as a cake without icing and cherry, which no doubt is good, but is it good enough??? We are breathing, but does it suffice???

THINK ABOUT IT. A serious thought needs to be given to it - ARE WE ALIVE???

JOBS OR WORDS @ LOSS

GOMBAZ!!! - Does this acronym ring a bell or a gong... I am sure it does to a few who are all ears. Well, to the ones it doesn't, let me decode the word. GOMBAZ means Grossly Overpaid MBA's. Some would agree to agree and some would agree to disagree. Don't you think that MBA grads, indeed, are paid well these days with exceptions. Elite MBA's from top notch B - Schools definitely are OVERPAID, but not to miss the MBA's who missed to join C or D schools too.

Now, when these fresh, young or not - so - young grads pass out of MBA's, with big dreams and great ideas join companies and COME ON BOARD, at times something begins to vapourize. The great offerings made to woo a candidature, or the stars literally shown during day light, just fades away like words on a board, when you come on board. ( Not all cases, but it does happen to a few LUCKY CHOSEN ONES!!) Things don't sync well and things begin to get distorted.

Distorted vision is not accepted, hence young minds start meandering in search of jobs that real get them going. Some have a few months gap, or a few months in one company and then the switch happens. But, how well are these short switches accepted by the Human's out there?? That is exactly the answer that needs to be well crafted and presented. Do they really undersatnd when one says that the previous job wasn't satisfying or it was not what I was looking at? Haven't we heard somewhere, MBA's are known for job hopping!!!

CONSISTENCY - That is the word mostly used when MBA's change or hop jobs. Well, there will be reasoning done both ways, but just beacuse jobs are hopped at times, it doesn't mean there is serious lacking or deficiency.

Jobs anyways are at loss but along with it words are also at loss at times??? Don't you all agree.....

TO B R NOT 2 B @ D TOP

Bosses, Managers, Team Leads etc. - All mean the same and I guess no matter what the defined designation actually implies -In short, WE ARE AT THE TOP!!

Something actually happens when one starts getting up ( I agree Every Rule Has An Exception!!) that makes them behave the way they do. It is the I - have - to -reign attitude even though it may be in vain. Some try really hard to make their presence felt at the top. Some seem to sail through so comfortably that we juniors really look upto them.

Let me elucidate both the categories a little more. Let's address them as TYPE - I & TYPE - WE.

Pondering why these names... TYPE - I are those top levels which always start with an I. they cannot see beyond themselves and think beyond. Their world stops at I, ME & MYSELF which reminds of a book by AYN RAND called THE ANTHEM. For these cadre of people, nothing matters more than themselves. They actually, at times, cannot bear it if a junior suggests something better. They make sure that idea doesn't blossom. It gets nipped in the bud.

TYPE - WE are those very rare wonderful bosses we get at times, who are an absolute delight to work with. No I factor ruling them. It's the U factor for thier juniors. They help them come up , accept ideas, suggestions and motivate them as and when required. There is no I - Am - The - Boss - so - the - Boss - is - Right -Always attitude.

There may be another cateogy who have a few attributes from both the types too.

Just imagine, the plight of employees who need to work under TYPE - I kind of managers. You just need to open your mouth and there it goes shut in a jiffy. (India is a Democratic country, but within that 6*6 its all forgotten to bureaucracy. Freedom of Speech gets tongue tied.)

But on the other hand, TYPE - WE managers are like those Oysters with real Pearls within. What a delight to work with them?? I am sure most of the working Junta will agree....

It takes all kinds to make this world, after all ORGANIZATION is an iota of the world....So, if not for all these kinds, then there would be no verbal clash to survive on and cherish later.

P.S : I had read it in some forwards sometime which I thought I would quote - to be sitting at the top, you need to be doing nothing!!! ( Cannot vouch for it though now, since its too early...)

GOOGLE

This is verily an enlightening thing. Just last week I happened to catch my friend online. We were diccussing the saga of our work life (which indeed is a SAGA). After exchanging a lot of cribbings back and forth we decided to ponder over the life of people who were married and heaved a sigh of relief. (We were still in a much better position to focus our uni - directional cribbings and feel ecstastic.)

All of a sudden we meandered again and started discussing about GOOGLE (I happened to hear a punch line in my previous workplace where it used to be quoted " GOOGLE IS A BOON"!!!) and how we could get any information with just a click away.

With this indeed wonderful search engine, it is so easy to find any information within seconds.

After discussing the merits only (demerits always limited to work life), my friend suddenly shot that GOOGLE mean GO OGLE!!!!!

Now, that seemed such a cool way of putting it across, GOOGLE - GO OGLE!!!!!'

For some it indeed is a BOON.

Ring 'e SAMOSA

Office Time - Working Hours - Weekdays - Phones buzz always!!!

I guess its a common scenario in every place, where a few extra - ordinary people let thier phones ring & sing loudly (Public entertainment at no cost!!!).

The same was the scenario even in my workplace. Phones used to ring loudly (Place no bar, time no bar scenario). Some had the most irritating ringtones and utterly obnoxious.

A few samples,

1. I LOVE You..... I Love YOu....

2. Antenaa.......(That's all I could decipher)

3. Hello... Hello... Hello....

I guess the above should suffice. With these kind of ring tones, just imagine the plight of people....

My Manager came up with a brilliant idea to put a stop to this menace.

Each time the phone rings loudly, that person ought to buy Samosa for everyone in office...

Phone rings, samosa sings!!!!

We are all waiting with utmost anticiaption that Samosas are on the way.....

GOT TO JOT THIS

SAMSUNG CORBY - This is the Story!!!

The very name makes me write a new blog and this is something that I don't want to miss writing.

In my team two of us have Samsung Corby mobile phones, of different versions. Now there is this third person, whom we call "Stomach Brain". This Stomach Brain wanted to buy a new phone so he started his R&D at a faster pace than his actual work load at office. Even after three days of exhaustive coverage, he still seemed confused and zapped like never before. Anyways, we guys too gave our well - needed - opinion. Opining is something, everyone wants to do whether asked for or never asked for. Opinion each of us love doing. In this case too, we gave our opinions. Well, finally after a lot of nerve racking and brain storming sessions, Stomach Brain finally zeroed down on Samsung Corby Pro. (With external help from his other resourcses apart from his internal pillars of strenght!!!)

Well, that's not what the intent of my blog was. Stomach Brain had even readied the amount required and waited in great anticipation for the D - Day to arrive ( Or should I say D - Evening).
With all enthusiam, he went to purchase only to be disappointed that there was no stock.

Scenario the next day in office,

A Samsung Corby Pro has become his desktop screen saver!!!!

OH MY GOD!!!!! Evn today, after almost a week, Stomach Brain is still waiting to pick his phone which has finally arrived somewhere!!!!

Need I say more........

VOICE A HOLD

Music in the true sense!!!

I have to post this blog. Music makes me post this blog.

I have this freind of meine, well onf of the kind who loves music more than anything. I happened to get to know him, quite by chance. We used to learn driving in the same school. Happened to start speaking (Well, of course undoubtedly initiation was mine, because he is those "Silence - is - golden" kinds) and we kind off gelled well.

After the classes got over, we still kept in touch. Once it so happened that we met over dinner. After an early dinner, we decided to walk and this guy said he would sing.

He started and I am like -what is this guy made up of?? He has the most brilliant voice I have ever heard and what a singer he is.. He sings almost perfectly... His voice is just so beautiful that I guess I will fall short of words....

I fondly call him kinky!!!

Kinky way to go... Keep up the great work and would love to hear more from you in public in future....

ROLLER OFF THE COASTER

I'm sure most of you have seen the 4D movies while travelling abroad. I yet hadn't go a chance to see it. So my happiness and excitement was all rotating around 3D movies only (Craze to the zenith post AVATAAR release). Well, to cut the long story short, my first 3D movies wasn't Chota Chetan, it was Avataar... After that there was no looking back. I fell in love with 3D movies. It was love at first sight!!!!
Now, that's my 3D story. Without digressing, let me start with I what I intended to start off.
4D, now that's the buzz word with the Indian with respect to movies. Sometime back, I was on my religious tour in Garuda Mall ( Religious because I vist Garuda Mall more than a Ganapathy Temple) and I was handed a pamplet. Normal curiosity, I read it and it was about 4D.
FIRST TIME INTRODUCED - 4D for you!!! Well, now that is called brilliant marketing. Mission accomplished. I was all set to watch 4D.

So some saturday 2 weeks back, I went to my holy visit. There were 3 4D movies playing, one after another. I wanted to watch something related to polar bears. ( Other two being about ghosts and aliens, none interests me though!!!) Prices are over the top thoug beacuse each ticket was a whopping amount of Rs.150 and mind you the duration of the film is BARELY 15 MINUTES!!!!

We went in and it was a tiny place. ( Nothing unlike our normal audis) But the seats were mind blowing. They were at a few cms above the ground level. We were given glasses. The first thing I felt when I went in was, as if I had entered a Polar Region. It was chilling. (First effect already expereinced!!! About 30 - 35 people can sit at a time for the thrilling or chilling experience, me having picked the later option.

It started and what a roller coaster ride we had. The seats kept moving forward and backward and getting tilted to glory. As and when the scene took place, we experienced the same effect. (It was like FISH BONE THEORY---- All MBA grads guess can recall..) If the panda spit water, we experienced it on our face. If there was a qyale, then we felt it under our feet...

This beautiful entralling journey comes to an edn in about fifteen minutes.... But definitely worth the ride!!!!

P.S : Take the ride, it'll be etched in your minds forever!!!!!

MUSE A BUSE II

Starting from where I left in my previous blog, this is the sequeal to it.

I started with my training at work , which I felt was a great period. It was to last almost two monaths. TWO MONTHS of brillaint 'masti', is what we all trainees felt. (Lest was I to know, that it wasn't true, until later.)
Coming to back to my so - rightly - assumed - fun - period, we used to have rigoruos activities and no time to breath. It was filled with assignments and topped beautifully with tests that too on a very irregualr basis. (Irregularity meant EACH DAY!!!)
Finally, our MASTI TRAINING PERIOD was completed and we were on the job.
YES!!! Finally on the job. What an amazing feeling!!! A brilliant next - to- oscar - achievement....

The days at work would be filled with activities. Loads of activities that I would wonder when on earth my shift began and when the hell was it over....Well, not rosy too beacuse we used to have a lot of irate customers asking about their money transcations....Life wasn't easy answering their questions....Firstly, money issue and secondly irate clients... You can imagine our poor plights....

Once, I happened to get a terrible customer who started abusing right from the very nano second I picked up the call... I heard enough... I was almost losing my patience.

Digressing a little, i would like to tell you guys that 3 out of 10 customers are irate and they get on your nerves. (Less of an exaggeration to keep it simple... Simplicity sells...) We have a mute button in the avaya which enables us to vent out our frustration (Thank God!!! If not for this option, ITES wouldn't be able to flourish so well....)

Coming back to my patience levels, I had tolerated enough and I thought it was time THE - HIGH - N - MIGHTY - MUTE BUTTON (as it is called) will now come handy. It was my first time usage and experience in both terms, (MUTE & IRATE CLIENT) I happily pressed the mute button (which I assumed was on) and said something.

Now, here's the twist in my luck, the MUTE BUTTON HAD BETRAYED ME!!!!!

I was in for super cool ride now. You can imagine what happened...
Well, hang in, I wouldn't want your imagination to run like crazy horses... I will give it a break...

This client heard it and he wanted to speak to my manager. He spoke and it was sorted out..

Thank God!!! It wasn't severe....
