DOWN (ME)MORY LANE

THIS BLOG I AM POSTING IS TRULY SPECIAL TO "ME"!!!

The days date back to my MBA days. I was in my II SEM then. I had a pal of mine who used to work in an I.T firm in Koramangala. At times, I used to go from my college till Koramangala to meet up. Initially, I used to find it tedious as I had to get down form the auto & walk a long way down the lane... The walk was really really long. After some days, I kind off started enjoying the walk. The road seemed beautiful all of a sudden. I used to wait to walk down that road in Koramangala. What a delight it used to be!!!! The houses in that road & the wierd names to it. I used to enjoy reading them while walking. Eventually, that stretch of lane became my favourite PATH. Simply breathtaking. People taking their dogs for walk, people doing brisk walking, vendors selling their yield etc. I used to walk around 5:15 P:M. That stretch was one long road with about 5 intersections. Not mush traffic.. ( Strange but true). The evening walk used to take me nearly 45 mins. (Mind you, I am very fast in walking)....But that 45 minutes of walk was a self motivator kinds. I used to feel so rejuvenated & Positive. That road used to all the more motivate my swirl of thoughts to its peak. It was an undescribable feeling.

Peaceful, calm, serene, best described. The dogs would be a real beauty to watch. Some how I kind off fell in love with this path. Each day I walked, the more I wanted to walk. The path had memories embossed for life in my mind.

Well, this path may seem like any ordinary path to somebody else. But to me this path was the best path I had ever walked on. Nothing could beat it ever!!!

But alas!!! There came a day when I had no reason to be walking in that path anymore. But thoughts & the time spent will linger on in my mind for the rest of my life.

For sure, I will walk down this path of mine sometime later, just to refresh those thoughts of mine....

This will always and forever be my BEST & FIRST LOVE of my Life for times to come!!!!

My Path, Me(mory) down lane always!!!

AFTER EFFECTS OF TEMPORARY DISCONNECTION

This is a true incident.

My rakhi brother Juicy, got married in Feb. 2009. Till then he was available anytime for freinds, when they really needed a pal. But guess things change when they marry.

So, the same thing happened with Juicy. This guy had been so disconnected that there was absolutely no news from his end. No calls, no sms, not coming online, meeting toh door ki baat thi....

Anyways every year it was ritual to meet on RAKSHA BANDHAN day.You see he was my pal cum brother. No escape atleast on that day. All advantages of being a SIS. I had reminded him about a week in advance. ( Note: Only to married personals - Reminders needed after wedding).

Again just to make myself sure, I sent him another message on the day of Rakhi. (For my surity).

Time got confirmed and the place - CCD, as always.

I was supposed to meet my cousin brother who had come from U.S.A too. SO met him forst as I had time. A brilliant plan started forming in my mind. Well, read on to find out....

I told the plan to my brother. He was kind of flabbergasted. Bulleyed him to agre. Elder diii to him you see. Poog thing agreed. We marched off to CCD.

As agreed, I was there at 7. Juicy arrived a little late. Apologising, huffin - puffin too.

He sat down. Now who is this guy?? That was the look on Juicy's face after seeing my cousin.

They introduced themselves before even I could intervene. ( None of them had met before you see - TO my advantage).

I popped up a question. I asked Juicy, Wouldn't you want to know who this guy is??? Well, ofcourse he had to. I was his RAKHI SISTER, after all. I casually said he is my WOULD BE. Man, his face was worth seeing then. He was baffled completely.

He just looked at me, and to my happiness, he bought it. He was perplexed. How the hell could I get engaged and not call him?? Man, he was shooting question at my so called would be. That poog guy, kept looking at me, most talkative you see.

After about 5 minutes, my brother took his cell - phone out to call. To my utter shock, he dials my home number. God, I had forgotten to loop in my mother. Of course, the rest goes unsaid. My mum spilt the beans.

What a hearty laugh we had!!!

P.S: I hope Juicy doesn't get disconnected again.

All my dear married friends, beware, you never know what would have taken place in your respective freinds life, if you remain disconnected.

PLEASURE MEETING YOU

I would love to keep this one short & sweet... (Hopefully)...
Here goes the story... We initially had a very beautiful & attractive visiting card. I call it attractive because it was partly RED. Yup, my favourite color on earth. One fine day, all of a sudden, we realize that the TOP MANAGEMENT has decided to change our cards.. Man, what a rude shock I was in for....How I loved our old cards... With a heavy heart, I gave my old cards to get a new set of cards. Fine, what could we do... Nothing.. TOP management decides you see....
Anyways, it was time for me to inaugurate my new visiting card. With sheer luck I had a meeting in INFOSYS.. Yes you got it right... INFOSYS... My joys knew no bound.... Now little did I grieve about my old cards.. Was lost in INFY world...
THE D DAY arrive finally. I entered INFY campus.. I was too lost to even talk to my managers. The usual security check at INFY. I told the security whom we wanted to meet & gave him my card as he wanted. What happens next???? Is absolutely unbelievable....
This security guy calls up the concerned person. Guess what he says.......He tells that someone from 'PLEASURE MEETING YOU ' has ccome to meet you... We stared at the security guy for a minute.. Flabbergasted, zapped, baffled to the core.. Shell shocked actually...
To our utter shock we realized that after our name, the card had Pleasure Meeting You....
Poor guy mistook it for our company name... What a hearty laugh we had...
Indeed it was PLEASURE MEETING YOU... Guess more for me.. I'm sure you know why...INFOSYS... Rings a bell.....

NEVA MISS AN OPPRTUNITY

Here I come again.. Not bad right!!! Faster than expected...Let me give you a preamble before you guys proceed. Well, a little secret about me... I can neither ride a cycle, nor a 2 wheeler..Forget about driving a car...Its not happened yet.. But mind you, I am very good with my directions..I never miss roads and reach my direction bang on target.. ( My bro says its a very rare thing in gurls).. Now let me start my story before I brag more...
Here I was on a fine evening travelling with my best friend as a pillion on her bike.. Not much option you see... Me as usual was filling her with all the happenings in my life..There is no looking back once I start.. Talking.......I just go on and on and on......You know it all I guess.....The road was not too crowded for our delight... What a bliss actually?? Its such a rare delights....But neverthless the signals are always there , no matter what....(True I guess)... As usual we got stuck in another horrendous jam.. TRAFFIC JAM... Gosh I was fed up... And I'm sure my best friend doubly fed up... Guessed it.. (Traffice jam & Of course my blabber...:)) Hope not...
Anyways I told her we could jump the signal... And moreover we could not see THE MEN IN WHITE too....(Should we have seen)...Million dollar question??
We people happily jumped the signal... U bet... You can guess what happened next... Needless to say...
Out of the nowhere, our very own MEN IN DISTRESS popped out.... Gosh I was zapped out...Where were these people... Man they stopped us immediately....I mean without wasting a minute...And you bet what he asked my friend.. : Madam, does red light look like green light to you"??? In short, do you have colour blindness.....
Need I say more.....

BOOKS

Books, books, books......Well what can I say about his most enchanting thing I've ever come across in my life. My acquaintance with books dates back to times when I was a toddler I guess..Yeah that's right, TODDLER....My mum actually is the one source appreciation for getting me into this habit of reading...All thanks to MUM, there has been no looking back....

I was a kid when I first got the hang about books.. I started my tiny venture with books which had more of pictures and less of words.. The animals looked so real to me, that I used to look at those books for long hours.. Then started off with small books containing small strories.. I was just too excited for words.. Being the only child, I did not have brothers & sisters to disturb me too.. Started devouring books on a regular basis.. From tiny books to a little bigger books, I got my promotion.

I came to junior school, the addiction was only stronger. I started with ENID BLYTON. Fell in love with MALORY TOWERS. It is my all time favourite till today. Then came FAMOUS FIVE, FATTY SERIES, SECRET SEVEN. I used to be so lost reading books. It just continued. The urge to finish books was so strong that I used to polish them off in a day. Man, what a delight they

used to be.

Than came the High School days. Like all the reading gurls, I also entered the world of NANCY DREW. Started loving her Prosche cars too. I practically finished all her books. Never had a keen passion for HARDY BOYS... Then swayed into the enigmatic world of SWEET VALLEYS. You see in my school, SWEET VALLEY was a huge rage. All the girls, who read, wanted to read SWEET VALLEYS. You would actually find an Elizabeth (or LIZ in short) , or a JESSICA everywhere. I'm sure most of you who read will know them. But for those, who are alien to the Paper world, these 2 girls are the twin sisters of SWEET VALLEY books. Then from SWEET VALLEY HIGH, I moved up the ladder too SWEET VALLEY UNIVERSITY. I still fondly remember, in my Bio classes, I used to keep a novel in between my text book & read. Then moved to THREE INVESTIGATORS.....(What an impression right!!!!) My maa'm never found out.

Alas!! the end of good ole school days.. Time to move on...

I landed up in college now.. Yup, college.. Started off with ROBIN COOK. A whole new wrold of science fiction unmasked. My favourite was INVASION. Then started off with AGATHA CHRISTIE.. Loved all her books to the core. Then it was SYDNEY SHELDON. I still used to read ENID BLYTON at times. Time for JEFFREY ARCHER.

Then I got into Enginnering. Well, I never ever gave up reading. I was just far too addicted to quit reading. I continued. Back home mum is an avid reader. We used to dicuss a lot on books. she used to tell her favourites, & I used to tell her mine.

I started with VICTORIA HOLT, Gothic romance you see. Then moved on to MARY STEWART.

GEORGETTE HEYER. Though not one of my favourites. Of course how could I miss, POTTER MANIA!!!.

I was also a maniac. Just loved the books... I have the collection from U.S.A ( Courtesy: Ma' bro)

I was lost on Hogwarts... Actually forgot B.M.S.C.E for sometime.....LOL....

Then came the era of ASSORTED AUTHORS, as I call it. Paulo Coelho, Men R from Mars, Women r from Venus types.

Then I moved up the level. Joined Masters program.

The most unbelievable thing started happening. I was entrapped in Management & Non- Fiction books for a solid 2 years. Fiction seemed to be losing its essence. I started off with JACK WELSCH. Loved his book STRAIGHT FROM THE GUT. A whole new world opened up in front of me. I was kinda elated with the change. Built to last followed. A whole lot of other books.

Now after college, I have started loving Fiction as well as Non - Fiction.

But somewhere down the line my heart still voted for Fiction. ( Childhood days - Old habits die hard).

Books have always been my favourite. Jut to name a fw authors that I read,

1. Agatha Christie

2. Sydney Sheldon

3. Jeffrey Archer

3. Paulo Coelho

4. Victoria Holt

5. James Hadley Chase

6. Barbara Cartland

7. Mary Stewart

8. Randy Pausch & Jeffrey Zaslow

9. Sudha Murthy

10. Jack Welsch

11. Enid Blyton

12. J.K Rowling

And many more to name.

Books will be books. The Constant Factor in my Life.

Thanks MUMMY. All the credit for widening my data base goes to you. Hats off MOM!!!!

Imitation at its PEAK

This one is....Read on to know which category it falls into....
After college, my first job.... or to put it more precisely ma first job after MASTERS.....Here, in that very place I came across lots of people, actually all types & kinds....Some really sweet, some haughty, some boring, some wierd etc. etc., you know the set that takes to float a REAL company & so called ASSESTS....Anyways I came across a house keeping lady who had this wierd way of calling people AMMA.....Her tone, pitch , intonation & whatever nitty-gritties goes into callin AMMA was peculiar...She used to use the very word in every sentence. Actually, her sentence used to start & end with AMMA...Here was ME trying to HONE my imitating skills (For those newbies, I'm pretty good at it...LOL....).. I started to imitate her way of callin AMMA jus the way it was....I got really good at it....Can you guess where I tried it & what the implication was...READ ON....
I had just mastered the word to its utmost perfection....Usage wrong place....
At home, at times my MUM is addressed in different ways, MUM, MOM, MUMMY, MUMMA & AMMA ( Yup, that very word)....Can you guess what could have happened...Well..Well.....Well...
Here i was one morning, trying to call my mum & Heaven knows why i called out AMMA... AMMA....Twice, not once ...and here was my mum telling, MUNDE HOGUMA....(Yup, the very thing you tell beggars....) My mum tellin me....
THAT was the end of me ever trying to call in that particular tone, pitch etc....
I'm sure i wouldn't wanna call that...Right... to get that wonderful a reaction from ma MUM......

CIVIL in Me

Well, well, well hope the very title doesn't beat ma pals......CIVIL, well thz what my ENGINEERING Degree is in....Took it up because I wanted to be in B.M.S.C.E...Course never mattered to Me...Strange i guess......Ok, here I was with the course, but never ever ever actually got into depths of appreciating it...Actually kept appreciating the college more than poor course...Neverthless....Something is better than nothing, if it holds good here.....Four years of college life, went by and i was more than happy to be out of CIVIL....True in every sense...

I was never keen on applying for a job and working in the same line....So, me bein me took up Masters and was more than happy to forget the very four years of acquired knowledge....I'm sure you will understand the level of happiness in moving away from something you jus don wanna be in....That was how I felt truly & modestly.....

Two years of ma Masters Life flew by and there I landed myself in a job...Job right, the very word makes you traverse all those long years of yearing to EARN....U bet!!!! Money..... Yes, I was on top of the world to earn. TO EARN N SHOP mind you....For those of you who don't know, I'm the BIGGEST spendthrift one could come across..(You'll agree, if you know me really well)....

Anyways crap apart....The job was awesome....I was happy...At the end of the month, pay packet in my hand or the urban way, CHEQUE/CHECK in my hand....What a feeling!!!!

After sometime my bubble burst soon...Yup you got it right....bubble burst...Here i was stuck in a PMC and given a CIVIL project to do apart from my Masters skills.....

Got nothin more to say now....Somethings best left unsaid...What say????

P.S: CIVIL never seems to be getting away from ME......ME...Poor ME.......

JEWELRY CRAZE

Jewelries are somethin that drive me crazy. My love for them knows no bounds. Those colorful rings, bangles, bracelets, chains and all those wonderful & mesmerizing trinkets seem a paradise to me. The colors, red, blue, violet, pink, orange, yellow, floroscent etc. are such pretty sight. They come in different shapes and each shape is a beauty in itself. The sight is so beautiful that I can't help getting attracted to it. It keeps beckoning each time i pass by and each time I think ONLY THIS TIME....But its a trap i keep wanting to fall in....

Each time I buy a beauty, I show it off with great pride. They are all my prised possessions. I admire each one to the core be it a bangle, a bracelet, a chain anythin. The designs on it are so breath taking that I just get lost in them.

The more I buy, the more I wanna buy.. Its a never ending visious circle...Each one hanging in the store tempts me big time. I try hard but alas......I do not succeed....They are a fancy that I love to possess..
This is a craze to stay for the rest of my life and for nothing in this world would I want to give it up!!!!!

CHILLY CHATAAK!!!

RED HOT CHILLIES... or those GREEN SLENDER BEAUTIES......The more you eat, the more u wanna eat....Well RED HOT TEMPER is also something like that for me....It just awaits at the tip of ma nose and lo behold!!! before i can even realise SNAP i;d had gone at someone.....Hard to control and irrestible to hold back.....Ma temper is super hot....Erupts like a volcano...A blazzing volcanic eruption.....Nothin' can let that cool come what may...If its meant to explode, it'll....Well!!!! that is ME.....Me though trying hard to control it, very unsuccessfully....The urge inside me to snap back is so strong that i at times fail to see the impact it leaves on the poor creature absorbing it......People just need to touch that raw nerve, thatz it.....There i go again.....PLONK.....PLONK........PLONK.......My words uttered in fury are so spicy that nothing can quench the same......Be it my pal, my best freind, in front of ma rising temper i fail to see it all....They become ceramic moulds in front of me ready for a blast furnace ride.....

I try hard to hold back it back...NO..No...No....but ...................in vain...Apparently i do manage it at times but it all comes out at some wierd point of time when not required.....Just about a week back, i experienced something like this again....All my friend did was to tell me that she would meet me late, and there that was it........I fumed aaway to glory.....The decibel in my voice was at its zenith.......Poor she!!!!! But ME being ME.......Went on and on and on...........................................I'm sure you guys can figure it out ya self...........

I ponder over my temper seldom and wonder........Will it ever come down or not......Or its going to last till eternity......

Tell me how hard is it lose or control one's temper........Until my next downpour, keep pondering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
